5 Things You Shouldn't Do with Bad Credit Repair

By Brian Timms

Slowly, little by little, loosening your grip on your finances could make you susceptible to ending up with bad credit, which is why you should know a lot about bad credit repair. Yes, bad credit repair is definitely what you need to boost your credit score in order to start rebuilding your life. But, although you express a desire to fix your credit you still have to be careful in performing the steps. If you don't, you might not be able to get out of the hole you yourself built.

And so, here are five common mistakes that people do when trying to do bad credit repair. In reality, a lot of people have fallen short of getting their credit scores to rise. That is because they did things the wrong way when fixing bad credit. So, to save you from that inconvenience, you have to read about the five things that you should never do in fixing credit.

One: Disputing errors with the original creditors is a no-no. So, don't bother disputing with your credit card company, mortgage company or collection agency. You won't go anywhere with them. Instead, send your complaints to the bodies that can settle the matter for you: the credit bureaus. Credit bureaus can go over your papers and correct any errors that they will be able to validate. In short, go to the top man.

Two: Do not take the online route to dispute any errors on your credit report. Yes, disputing online is way easier and more convenient for you. However, you won't get a guarantee of the result that you want. When you dispute inaccuracies, you have to write a letter of dispute along with supporting data through registered mail. This allows you to receive a return receipt from the credit bureau.

Number three: Related to number two, do not forget to keep a record of your claims. Thus, be sure to know when you sent the letter and when you got the return receipt. These are important evidence to prove that the credit agency received your package in the first place. Otherwise, you they could say that they did not receive it, when a negligent employee misplaces it.

Four: Do not hope of instantaneous results. Bad credit repair cannot be achieved right away. And so, be sure to psych yourself up well and not hope for quick results. What you will get is a lot of frustrations. In most cases, you can see improvements in your credit after six or more months.

Five: Do not give up before you even try. This means that although credit repair is a bit tedious, you have to stick with it until you get the results you want. You can do this by taking one step at a time. Doing so will give you a higher credit score, eventually. A word of advice: Be patient. When you do that, you will see good results with your bad credit repair attempt.
