These companies all have certain things they can do to help a consumer fix his/her credit, but did you realize that you can be your own handyman and get that credit straightened out? Many people make the mistake of avoiding their lenders. Letters from creditors go straight to the trash bin, collection calls are diverted to a telephone number that no longer exists.

When you decide to ignore them, this is when you will be reported to the credit agencies. You will find yourself with the short end of the stick when applying for other loans, or even when looking for employment. For instance, you can get a credit report for no charge and find out your credit history, if your credit denies you of a job, a mortgage, an auto loan, etc. But the waiting time after you have been denied would be a good two months or more. The reason why it is important to get a report of your credit history is because there may be errors.
