Is SEO Just A Racket Or Can It Help Your Business?

By Brent Peterson

Do you really wonder if SEO can help your website? What kind of results can you expect from paying to have some SEO done for your website and will it make a difference? Search engine optimization has already been proven time and time again to help floundering or lost websites to become profitable for business owners. The only real question remains is whether the SEO company that you're looking at can deliver the goods and what will this mean to your business?

While there are many companies out there charging their customer more money that God without promising a thing, effective search engine optimization is possible. Anyone that tells you that they can't promise a top ranking is giving you excuses because they probably don't know what they're doing. Sure, search engines change all the time but top notch SEO will always win out in the end if you are using good basic practices. That will never go away.

If you hear these words and take them as gospel truth then please walk the other way. While SEO is hard work it really isn't all that difficult for someone that knows what they're doing. You might not have the skills yourself to do this work but you are busy running a business, aren't you. This is why you want to hire someone. Where is the love and how about someone making you feel confident in their ability to help you and your business for a change? A good SEO company will try to give you that assurance that you're not about to be taken for your money and you shouldn't be hearing excuses. You should be hearing about their successes.

Now do you understand why it's important to know a little bit about SEO before going to look for a company to do the work for you? You should be looking for proof of top rankings right there before your eyes. The company that you hire should have the ability to write good content for you that will cause your website visitors to want to do business with you. Your SEO company should also know how to do the proper keyword research since ranking your website for your business name really isn't going to be a chore and keyword research can either make or break an advertising campaign. Be bold enough to ask the right questions without being accusatory or condescending. Forget about where their office or or how big their firm is. Some of the worst SEO jobs I've ever seen have been handled by big firms. You want someone that is going to actually work for you, right?

What's the payoff? What should you expect from a good SEO company and how can they help your business? With some certainty you should know that they should be able to rank your website in one of the top three spots for at least one buyer keyword within three months. If they aren't able to do that then they're holding back on you. As a result, you should see an increase in business in the form of your phone ringing more or more people walking in your door as if by magic.

Often it doesn't take checking SERP rankings to know when your site has hit number one for a certain keyword. You will know when it happens because things get crazy real quick. You will think that there must be something wrong because your phone will be ringing more than ever and this kind of spike in business can be exhilarating and addictive after the first time you've experienced it.

In closing, do your homework. Don't be impressed by an SEO company because of the building that they're offices are in or what awards they say that they've received. Be logical in your selection of who you work with and ask them for proof of websites that they have gotten ranked and the honest testimonials of former clients. Some of the best people at search engine optimization don't like to flaunt it. They just know their stuff when it comes to SEO.
