By Hadley Collins

Do you have a business with an internet presence that you're looking to take to the next level? Why not try out the exciting world of social media marketing? Marketing your product through social media can be a great way to get more customers and free publicity. Read on!

Try to collaborate with other people and companies when using social media. When they link to your content or share your content, you are being exposed to a brand new group of fans and followers. Return the favor and link to their content as well. The more people who link to your content and social media posts, the better off you are.

Blogging is a great example of social media marketing. Make sure that you take advantage of owning a blog to market your products and services to consumers. Post regularly on your blog so you can get exciting information out to the world, but also to remind people that you exist and so does your blog. People tend to forget about blogs that aren't often updated as they lose interest and move on.

Invest in ad space on Facebook or other websites. These ads are targeted towards users who have used certain keywords related to your business in their status updates. You should get a lot of targeted visitors who will learn about your products even if they do not decide to 'like' your page.

To make the most of social media marketing, respond to questions and comments in a very timely manner. You do not want to sit at your desk refreshing your inbox 24/7, but you do want to check in multiple times per day if possible. Anyone asking questions is either a loyal customer you want to retain and get more business from, or an interested prospect who might open their wallet if you give them some personal attention.

Don't be afraid to experiment with the ways you interact with your page followers. Do you usually link to updates made on your blog? Try posting a video update instead! Mix up the way you talk to people on your page, create a poll, or let them suggest ideas for a contest. Experimentation will let you see what marketing methods really engage your target audience.

Post links to other blog posts and have bloggers feature your content on their website. This will work if you return the favor and if bloggers see your blog as a good way to get publicity. Make sure there is no conflict of interest between you and the blogger who is going to feature you.

Encourage your customers to share information about your products and discounts. Have them include your hashtag in their posts so that you can keep track. Give them a free sample or a discount if they write something positive about your brand. You could generate more posts by having a contest.

Use social medias to get in touch with your community. You should establish yourself as a professional and a trusted resource regarding issues your community is facing. If you can, involve your company in fund-raising activities. This will help you add new people to your online network and foster a good image.

In order to keep your Facebook interaction vibrant and flowing, you need to frequently add fun content that is attractive to your fans. Some good ways to do this are to post cooky YouTube videos, articles you like, or links to interesting external content. You need to find a balance though, you don't want to lose your professional image either.

Take these tips and apply them to your marketing strategy; watch how well social media works for attracting and retaining customers. If you haven't used social media before, you'll soon recognize that these tips and social media sites are one of the best ways to reach potential customers and to build relationships with customers you already have.
