How to Choose a Cleaning Service?

By Michael Fielding

The workplace is a common breeding ground for illness. Often enough, when one person falls sick, the disease makes its way across the office, making almost everyone else sick, one after the other. It's important at times like these to remember that the health and safety of employees at work is the responsibility of the employers.

References There are many places you can look for and find out about cleaning services: yellow pages, the internet, local magazines and recommendations through word of mouth. The best way is through references and recommendation. You can either ask for a recommendation through a friend, or find a reputable company and request a minimum of three references.

Professionalism Once you've found a company you deem suitable, make sure to check about their professionalism. If they are, they will be registered with national or governing bodies like National Carpet Cleaners Association. If not they will have recommendations by magazines like 'Which' or the county 'Buy with Confidence Scheme'. A legitimate company will not hide any of their details, including address and phone number. They will also be found in the 'Companies House' listings so you can find out more about them.

All cleaning service staff are put through rigorous Health and Safety training courses at their main Health and Safety Department long before they are allowed to commence in any sanitisation of your office premises.

Efficiency Ensure that they work quickly without wasting time. You have things to do as well and cleaning should be efficient in that the job gets done without getting in your way. This is only possible if they know what they are doing. One way to make sure of this is to ask for and confirm that the cleaning services you choose only employs experienced cleaners.

For the eco-friendly, cleaning services also provide services where the products and equipment used are all environmentally friendly.

It pays to invest in employing a cleaning service for work as that's an investment in a usable, clean office space. Ultimately what matters is a hygienic, bacteria-free office, because that means lower illnesses and better productivity.
