How Moms Can Avoid Stress When Working At Home

By Willie Green

Working from home is a great way to stay home with your kids while still supplementing the family's income. On the flipside, it can be challenging to be mother and employee at the same time. It would not be farfetched for the working mother to, sooner or later, suffer from burnout and stress having to do her job while keeping half an eye on the kids. Mothers should therefore take note of some ways that can help them to cope with Work at Home Mom Burnout.

Don't be a workaholic. Money isn't everything. You family needs a happy and sane mom.

Make a schedule of your daily business and home chore routines. Don't panic or get frustrated if things don't go as expected. Things would be better tomorrow.

Schedule a day for all your outside business. You'll save time if you go out and do a week's worth of outside business in just one day allotted for that purpose. You can go to the grocery and the drycleaner and to the post office along the way and do other businesses all on the same day of the week.

Spend some time with the children. Take some time to play with them every day. Have a picnic lunch in the yard, take them on a little field trip or just play catch for a while. After all, you choose to work at home precisely to be with them for some time everyday. There should be time scheduled for your business and household chores.

Don't forget about your husband. Make date night a regular occurrence and connect with your lover.

Take time out with friends too. We need some adult conversation every now and then. You should maintain regular communication with them.

Call a friend. If you are having a bad day, call a good friend and just talk for a little while. You'll be relaxed and rejuvenated when you get back.

And don't forget to exercise. Go for a walk, join a gym, or try a Pilate's class. You need a healthy mind and body to keep fit for your multiple obligations.

At home, you can listen to music either to relax or pep you up. Who cares if your kids and the neighbors think you've lost it? You are having fun and are releasing all that build up physical energy.

Do only what is doable, especially if you are running your own business. Don't burn yourself out by trying to run several businesses at the same time.

You will be able to handle things better once you have observed the foregoing recommendations. You will be an efficient worker, a good mother and spouse all rolled into one. Your effort to help with the family finances while keeping watch over the children will be greatly appreciated. In the end, it will be like killing two birds with one stone.
