Lollipops Can Be A Treat That Is Both Nutritious And Tasty

By Michelle W. Lesperance

Though not every mom knows it, lollipops are some of the healthiest candies your kids could ever eat. It is true that these candies are like many others in the fact that they are filled with sugar, but since they happen to be such small portions, kids aren't getting too much. Most of the candies you will encounter are high in fat and will be very fattening for children, but this unique candy has very little fat and sometimes no fat.

Any mom that wants to give their kid a bite of candy that isn't terribly unhealthy should give them a lollipop, and they could even make their own that are even healthier. If you have a bag of sugar and a bottle of corn syrup in your kitchen, you have the basic ingredients you need to create this candy on your own. To keep things healthy, instead of opting for the artificial flavoring, you can use authentic fruit juices from anything like apples or strawberries, which will add actual vitamins and minerals to the candy.

For mothers who prefer to cut out the chemicals that come with heavily processed foods and ingredients, everything they use to make the candy can be purchased in an organic version. It is easy to offer your children fully organic candies when you realize that all of the ingredients that you will need can be purchased at most grocery stores in their organic forms.

While moms are going to enjoy the thought of giving their kids healthy snacks for a change, kids won't like it if you make it so healthy that it doesn't taste good anymore. To ensure that that doesn't happen, you could throw in some natural confections, like grenadine, very natural and very sweet syrup that is made primarily from pomegranate juice.

It is good to know that you don't have to use any set recipe and can experiment with the types of ingredients you use, to make sure that you get the exact kind of candy you are looking for. Substitute the sugar with honey or other natural sweeteners if you are worried about the amount of sugar included and would really like a way to cut back on it.

No matter how you do it, it is hard to make lollipops that don't taste wonderful. Your kids will finally have a snack that they thoroughly enjoy without you having to fret about cavities and sugar rushes.
