Planning Tips For Key Largo Weddings

By Patrice McCoy

Planning a wedding is certainly exciting, but it's also a lot of work. Even for those who have enlisted the help of a professional event planner, there are many decisions to be made and many guest accommodations to consider. Weddings both large and small can benefit from proper and careful planning. This helps to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the big day. Here are a few planning tips for Key Largo weddings for the most memorable experience to be had by all.

Securing there ceremony locations is probably the most important element of planning a wedding. It's natural to want to hold the ceremony at a unique and sentimental location, but it's also necessary to consider the practicality of the site. Make sure that the ceremony location can comfortably accommodate anticipated guest attendance.

The reception site, ideally, should be in convenient range to the ceremony location. For indoor receptions, look at all available banquet and event facilities. Outdoor receptions can be held in a variety of locations depending upon the time of year. A tent is always recommended for formal outdoor affairs.

The consideration of food and drinks to be served at the wedding reception is a widely varied area, and should be determined by budget as well as the time of day the reception is to take place. For example, if the reception is scheduled during dinner time, then dinner service is generally expected. On the other hand, a morning or evening reception might be best services with a light brunch or finger-foods. Non-alcoholic refreshments are expected, while alcohol service is completely optional. Food and beverage service should be conveyed on the reception invitation so guests know what to expect.

Decorations are often taken care of by the banquet facility staff, but it is also common for the wedding party to be involved in the decorating of the ceremony and/or reception sites. Sometimes decoration "packages" are available from the couple may choose, though personal preferences can usually be accommodated. This will all be dependent upon the policies of the individual venue.

The consideration of service vendors involves several items. The wedding cake, the photographer, the music, the flowers... All of these elements must typically be arranged individually. Unless the wedding is planned in a church, an officiant for the ceremony is also necessary. A wedding planner can assist with arranging these services. The event coordinator at the chosen venue can often provide recommendations of vendors in the area, as well.

While the bride and groom are normally only responsible for arranging transportation for themselves and the wedding party, consideration should be given to the transportation needs of guests, as well. This includes detailed instructions on how to get to the ceremony site (which should be included in the invitations) as well as a map from the ceremony to the reception. It is the consideration of transportation that also encourages keeping the ceremony and reception venues relatively close together.

There is a lot of planning that goes into Key Largo weddings. However, once all these plans begin to come together, a beautiful day awaits. While it may seem like a lot of work, proper planning ensures a day that everyone will remember fondly for years to come.
