Printed Stationery The Easy Way

By Paul Gayle

Printed Envelopes are a easy way to get your mail read and opened

Do remember 70% of all mail will be opened over a bin

Your stationery and of course printed envelopes are key parts of the printing services in London you can use to promote your brand.

For a few pence more spent on the envelope, you can ensure your client opens it. After all what is the point of direct mail if it's not read?

Think about weight and colour, as with paper, envelopes come in different weights and colour also. The more it weighs, the thicker and firmer the envelope will feel and the more upscale an impression it will make.

Most business envelopes come in shades of white and manila. Invitations and other special use envelopes can be found in a wide variety of colours. It is good to make note of the overall appearance you want to achieve both in colour, weight and feel.

Moreover, next time you're in need of an envelope but you're not sure which one to choose, you can use these tips to create a list of what you require. You'll know that you're serving the purpose correctly for your business.

Specific notes on the envelope

Dimensions

The main sizes are:

DL = 110x220mm - takes an A4 sheet folded twice

C6 = 114x162mm mostly used for special purpose invitations

C5 = 229x162mm packages one A4 sheet folded once in half

C4 = 324x229mm takes a full A4 sheet

Window options

The option to choose a 'window' in the envelope is simple. It means there is a transparent 'window' on the front of the envelope which reveals the name and address of the recipient, which is printed on the first printed page.

The seal of the envelope

There are three types of envelope- gummed envelopes, self-seal envelopes and the peel/seal type.

Most business papers come with matching envelopes, it is always worth checking your intended paper does come with a matching envelope in the size you require.

Envelopes can be printed in single or two to three pantone colours.

Standard black would normally be required for reply paid and PPI envelopes

Your envelopes can be printed using a four-colour process on maximum speed
