Simply Ask - Practical Tips to get Business Discounts

By Ryan Reger

It is amazing what you can receive just by asking. Even though I'm mainly focusing on applying this to your business, it can be useful in other areas. Simply by asking at the airport and hotels, my wife and I have received favor and upgrades.

In your business don't be afraid to ask for discounts - especially with vendors you do a lot of business with. In our furniture business we were able to negotiate a 5% discount with two of our major suppliers. 5% doesn't sound like a lot, but when you're talking about a higher ticket item like furniture, it adds up to be thousands of dollars per year in savings.

Our warehouse that works in the process of shipping our items have reduced our costs by an astounding 40%!! It all started by simply asking!

Take a look at your business and see what areas you can reduce costs to generate more revenue. You really may be surprised to see what can be cut. Research supply companies where you might be able to get items at a better cost. If you find one that does have a better cost, see if your current supplier will match or even beat it.

By shopping around we saved 50% on wooden pallets that we use for our furniture shipping. My wife located a credit card processing company with such a good rate that competitors can't even come close to what they give us.

Even if you are just starting a business, do remember everything is negotiable. You may not at this time be doing the amount of business you desire, but always keep looking for the better deal.

You may only have little discounts, but they will add up to give you a greater profit at the end of the year.
