Best Reward Credit Cards - Master Or Slave?

By Peter Crabtree

There must be quite a few of us out there who share the absolute delight of cutting up all the credit cards in their wallet. There's nothing quite like it. Unfortunately, it isn't usually a spiritual happening that causes this extreme action, but more a severe financial situation. That's to say, we either cut them up due to the fact that they are no use any more (they've been blocked), or because we don't stop using them and payments are spinning out of control.

Either state of affairs has all the hall marks of a financial disaster, which easily turns into an emotional crisis. For sure, money difficulties have caused perfectly reasonable men and women to fling themselves from the top of buildings - what a very strange thing to do! This a sad testimony to the grip that our credit-dependent life style has over us.

Of course, a credit card is a tool. Used in the correct way, it can be a big help in spreading payments and also buying that important big Christmas gift for your family. Apart from that, they are not much use. What did your say? You use it for filling the auto with gas, buying groceries and such? Take some advice, and stop it this instant. Talk to your bank and try to use a straight debit card. This kind of card is really common in some countries, and some families live quite well without needing a credit card, thanks all the same. It's called 'living within your means' and it's really intoxicating, believe me. The satisfaction you feel by being in absolute control of your spending is tremendous.

Now I've said all that, of course credit cards have their uses in our modern world, we just need to use them intelligently so that we are the masters, and not the cards or the banks. These days, it's possible to get rebates back from a card as you use it. Search for a credit card with best rewards and you'll discover a host of companies offering cash-back rewards, airline flights and points for for foodstuffs and other useful things.

In these tough times, it's easy to get into the bad books with credit reporting agencies, but it's not the end of the line by any means. Search for a credit card for bad credit and you might be amazed what you uncover, even if it's only a lowly top up type debit card, it will still assist in building back your score.

One last word, if you have to go through through the trauma of bankruptcy in the USA, you might be surprised to see offers for cards or personal loans coming through your mail box.Their logic is this - if you are employed, and don't make any payments on any loans due to bankruptcy, then you have disposable income - neat, eh?
