How to Find the Best San Diego Real Estate

By Samuel Waugh

There are lots of deals to be had today with San Diego Real Estate. Like everywhere else in the country, the city was hit relatively hard by the economic downturn. This was evidenced by the fact that many real estate agents went out of business within the past few years. This means it is a great time to buy homes in the area. Here are the reasons that San Diego is a good place to buy long term real estate:

Public schools

San Diego has some of the best rated public schools in America, which means the city is excellent for families with school age kids. Also, it is near a lot of good colleges, one of the most prominent being San Diego State University.

Weather

The weather of course is the main attraction for many people. San Diego is one of the most temperate cities in the states, and does not experience the extreme highs that most California cities do. The average temperature is in the mid-70s in the summer, and mid-60s in the wintertime. This city experiences fewer temperature fluctuations than just about anywhere else in the lower 48.

Activities

Due to the weather, geography and location, this city is an outdoor lovers' dream. Obviously there are plenty of water activities to do, most notably surfing. However, the area has a large scuba diving group as well.

Inland, you will find lots of hiking and biking trails, as the area is just 30 minutes away from Cleveland National Forest. This forest is home to 2 different mountain ranges, and there are actually a few notable peaks actually within the city limits. Also, there are plenty of other state and national parks within easy driving distance. If you are into sports, then the city has 2 pro sports teams (Padres and the Chargers) and a prominent division 1 school (San Diego State).

How to find good real estate deals

If you are looking for real estate in the city, you obviously have a number of choices. Quite simply, San Diego is noted for the wide range of houses it has. To find the best deal, you should strongly consider using an experienced agent. This is true whether you want a small 1-bedroom downtown San Diego real estate property or a sprawling mansion in the hills.

Using a good realtor is important if you do not have lots of home-buying experience. They will have access to a larger database of San Diego Homes than what is available in online classifieds. Also, they are generally quite good at negotiating a better deal for the buyer. While it does cost money to use a good realtor, the money is usually worth it. Just make sure you do thorough research and find a good realtor, and read reviews about them before committing.
