Is ACN a Good Home Business?

By John Carnegie

American Communication Network, or ACN, was formed in North Carolina in 1993. It's founders are Greg Provenzano, Robert Stevanovski, Mike Cupisz, and tony Cupisz. The company provides internet, wireless, satellite TV, home securityk, and local and long distance calling services. They say they are the largest direct selling telecommunications company in the world.

ACN claims to help its customers save money on telecommunications services that they already use. One service offered is VOIP technology-Voice Over Internet Protocol. This technology uses a broadband internet connection for routing telephone calls, which should be less expensive and more efficient than conventional switching and fiberoptic methods. Reports are that the services and products offered are very good. Their video phone enables simultaneous visual and voice communication between two people equipped with their devices.

Sales for this company come mostly from independent representatives, who are independent contractors. The company suggests that members contact their friends and family to inform them of their services. they also ask them to recruit these same people to join the business and recruit others. The goal is to reduce advertising costs. Donald Trump recently endorsed their products publicly--especially their new video phone.

To join ACN requires an initial investment of $495, plus monthly fees. The yearly cost is approximately $270 in order to be considered active and receive commissions on any sales made personally or my your team members. It takes approximately 50 regular customers in order to just break even during the first year.

Commission on a monthly service bill of $50 would be fifty cents. If you have fifty such customers, you would earn $25 per month. That comes to $300 per year. Compare this to the reported average income for Amway distributors, which is $40 per month. Neither is very impressive.

This business does not qualify as being a scam. It delivers sound products and services to its customers. As a business, it is not impressive when compared to many other opportunities. A few top distributors earn big incomes, but the typical new distributor will have a rough time breaking even, let alone making any significant profit.

Who do you know who actually enjoys selling? Not many do. But selling is required to succeed in this company or most any network marketing business. Products must be moved to generate income. Independent reps must also recruit others to join their business and then repeat the process in order to generate significant income. If someone enjoys this business model, they will find a home here. If not, then they should look elsewhere.

More and more home business owners have turned to the Internet in recent years. IN fact, several have realized that they can market a network marketing business, and its products on the Internet without having to depend solely upon their warm market of friends and family. This business model is proving to be quite successful.
