A Proven Formula For Business Success

By Charles Wallace

A business mastermind group will be a platform for success beyond any other.

Based primarily on the well established fact the best calls we are ever likely to make are those we make in cooperation with peers we trust and whose opinions we respect, a mastermind group is the vehicle of choice for successful folks everywhere.

When it come to learning how to mastermind, here is the way we are employing them to maximum advantage.

As an example it took us months to realize that a schedule of two conferences each month works best.

Even though there's no travel needed, in the case of our group where we meet via telephone and attending the meeting simply needs picking up the telephone, doing so each week becomes far too demanding extremely fast and the items discussed easily become chit chat instead of something important.

We also found by trial and error that once a month did not work for us either.

Such a lot of things were taking place in between the meetings all of the time was soaked up with what had already taken place and there was no chance to discuss plans for the future.

Every two weeks is a good formula for keeping the group connected without making it a burden. There's time to share the results from the last 2 weeks and discuss those important and imminent items of everyone's agenda.

The most effective meeting time is 90 minutes.

We have found, again through trial and error that ninety minutes supplies enough time for members to feel a bit like something suggestive was accomplished and to feel connected with one another.

Remember, this is about forming forceful relations that can continue to serve you for years to come.

In a future article I'm going to share with you the structure of our meetings which make the ninety minute format work for us.

Naturally if you're still getting together in real life for your mastermind group you'll want it to last for longer, if for no other reason than to explain the time, travel, cost, etc.

The additional time, again based primarily on the experiences of successful folk we know using this process, will not make them more profitable. Just the opposite, more chit talk and less excitement about attending the subsequent meeting.

Mastermind groups were originally created as eyeball to eyeball interactions. Imagine what proportion of a commitment was required back then when you had to travel maybe for hours just to meet up with your fellow mastermind group members?

Even if gas was cheap these face to face mastermind groups took up lots of time. And the members of the group were only those folks who lived sufficiently close to get to the conferences continually. This truly limited the potentiality of the group to who was around rather than who was the best possible fit.

During the past decade or so however mastermind groups have migrated to more of a virtual environment with some conferences head to head, perhaps quarterly or perhaps yearly, with the others handled using all of the technologies now available.

Actually we all know dozens of groups made up of trade organisation members who meet before, during, and even in private after their yearly association events. They use this face time to catch up and plan for the future. The remainder of the year they meet together over the telephone and keep in contact via email, Twitter, etc.

That's the real wonder of the mastermind group process. It works whenever, wherever, and however you do!
